Big Truck
Big Truck, the latest project of Laurie Vincent (SOFT PLAY), blends indie-pop hooks with cinematic atmospherics. A different energy to his previous work, their music draws from artists like The Cure, The Smiths, The War on Drugs and Sam Fender. The band’s chemistry is shaped by its diverse players: drummer Sam Coppins’ jazz-tinged freedom, guitarist Asa Thallon’s metal-honed precision, and keyboardist Justin Myles’ grounding in R&B and soul. Lyrically, their songs are rich with character, shifting between the confessional, the witty and the philosophical - balancing an appreciation for what’s good in life with an acceptance of what isn’t.
Big Truck’s debut album, Midday at the Middleway, was recorded in four days at the world-class Marshall Studio. Standout tracks include ‘Central Reservation Blues’, which pairs highway-ready heartland rock with ’80s Brit indie and melancholy lyricism, the sun-kissed pure pop of ‘Rebounder’ and the waltz-like post-punk groove of ‘Collided’.
