Common questions
It depends on what kind of impact you would like to make in your business space. Calm background music or energetic foreground music. The goal is to create the right atmosphere, so that your customers want to stay.
Acton III, Stanmore III & Woburn III each deliver a different soundstage and volume level, so consider the total floor area, ceiling height, power outlets and room shape when making your decision on the type and quantity of speaker you need.
All Homeline III speakers come equipped with a new Bluetooth standard, LE Audio, which offers multi-speaker playback, higher quality audio, and improved range. A transmitter device (the Marshall dongle) connects directly to a USB-A port or via an adapter to USB-C or Apple Lightning connector. Adapters are available at most consumer electronics stores and the most common adapters used with the Marshall dongle are:
· Older PC or Mac – no adapter needed
· Newer PC or Mac – USB-C (M) to USB-A (F)
· IPad or iPhone – Lightning (M) to USB-A (F)
· Android tablet or phone – USB-C (M) to USB-A (F)
We recommend that the playback device is never used for calls and has all notification sounds turned off, as this will interrupt the music.
Typically, the furthest away you can have a speaker from the Marshall dongle is 20 meters. Bear in mind that obstructions like walls and lots of people will influence how well it works. For the best performance, we recommend having some free space around the dongle, avoid pointing it down or covering it up. Keep it out of drawers too.
The speakers are designed to sit on shelves or tables, somewhere between waist and head height. Each speaker has a bass reflex port at the back which requires a minimum of 5 cm (about 1.97 in) of free space to get the best connection. Mind your neighbours when you set the bass level, as these can pack a real punch.
Ensure that any equalizer in your music player is set to ‘Off’ or ‘Flat’. Use the Volume, Bass and Treble controls on each speaker to get the right balance. Set the normal volume you want to have on each of the speakers, which might be higher in some locations of your space and lower nearer your customers. Adjusting the volume on your playback device will change the volume on all speaker volumes relative to their setting.
Just play music from your preferred music streaming service on the speakers via the Marshall dongle. Stop streaming music and the speakers will go into a low energy sleep mode after 10 minutes. Begin to play again and the speakers will automatically wake up and begin to play. Even though sleep mode significantly reduces daily power consumption it is good practice to switch off the speakers completely if you are not using them for more than a few days.
To ensure that your Homeline III speakers have the latest firmware you will need the Marshall Bluetooth app, available on the App Store and Google Play. This is only done while setting up the speakers and after that the app is not needed for the day-to-day use of the Marshall dongle and the speakers.
