The 1990s was a musically diverse era, witnessing a surge in guitar music on both sides of the Atlantic and the rise of the rave genre on the charts. Simultaneously, the Riot Grrrl movement emerged as a feminist punk movement. It employed music, zines, and activism to confront gender inequality and empower women to assert their presence in the predominantly male-dominated punk and alternative rock scenes.
